30% of the Santa Cruz's homeless sleep in their vehicle every night. A third of them have children with them. Our program would provide a safe and legal space to start again.
Your church can make a real difference
On Nov. 28th we will talk more, but here is the short version.
Local laws allow faith communities to sponsor those living in their vehicles on their property without any government permission or oversight. If you community of faith has the parking spaces for use from, say 7pm to 7am. You can do this.
AFC will screen and orient any potential guest so that they are qualified to live in harmony with your congregation and neighborhood.
We will work with you on utility hook ups, restrooms, access to available kitchens and the rules rules particular to your site.
We will continue to work with participants after they arrive to clear up any miscommunication, see that rules are abided by and help them develop a plan to move up to more stable housing over time. And need be, exit them from your site.
We ask you open your site for these folks, work with them and us to make this experience good for them and your congregation.
